2015: Grant from Danida (600.000 DKK) for the new interactive documentary Deadline Syria. Thomas is co-author, -director and -producer

2015: Deadline Athens is nominated for Web Documentary Visa d’or Award at Visa Pour L’image festival in Perpignan, France

2014: Deadline Athens is third best Multimedia Documentary Package in American NPPA’s global competition.

2013: Grant from Ministry of Education (300.000 DKK) for the interactive documentary Deadline Athens.

2012: Grant from Danida (500.000 DKK) for the interactive documentary Deadline Athens. Thomas is director, co-author and co-producer.

2010: Amnesty Journal submits ‘The flight from North Korea’ for Red Cross Media Award

2010: Thomas receives Denmarks biggest journalist award, the Timbuktu Foundation Prize, for his reportages from Myanmar, North Korea and Ghana. The prize is awarded for best critical journalism from developing countries.

2008: Thomas receives the Kristian Dahl legacy grant for his reportages from Myanmar and Cambodia. The grant is awarded to the most remarkable young Danish journalist of the year.

2008: Thomas receives a ‘twinning’ grant from Danish International Development Assistance (Danida) and The Danish Union of Journalists. He investigates the use of child labor on cocoa farms in Ghana.

2006: Thomas receives a grant from Danish Church Aid (DCA). Publishes a serial on the recovery-proces in Sri Lanka one year after the tsunami.

2004: Thomas receives the grant ‘Danidas Verdensbilledlegat’. Produces the short movie ‘El Viaje’ in Guatemala.
